Tricycle Theatre UK Premiere: Men of Arlington

This powerful documentary tells the story of Arlington House, established in London’s Camden Town in 1905, through the lives of the emigrant Irish men who have called it home over the decades.

The long-term residents of Arlington House are Irish men who came to Britain to seek a better life, but lost themselves along the way. Fleeing poverty, oppression and family expectations, they left behind their native Ireland, but it never let go of them.

Men of Arlington weaves the stories of current and former residents in a vivid and evocative portrait of emigration, displacement and alcoholism. Threaded through these narratives is the work of the Aisling Return to Ireland Project, and also the one hundred year history of Arlington House, which is said to have been home to more Irish men than any other building in the world.

Awarded Best Irish Documentary by Dublin Film Critics Circle at Dublin International Film Festival 2011.
Nominated ‘Best Factual Single’ at Celtic Media Festival 2011.

The UK premiere of Men of Arlington (followed by a Q&A with director Enda Hughes) will be on Sunday 25 September at 15:00.
