Well things were obviously going a little too well for Alec Baldwin. Perhaps he figured that being a comedy god on 30 Rock was now passé. Or maybe he just wanted to exercise his serious acting chops. Either way, he has just signed on for gritty thriller Hick.
Hick is a not-so-kindly yarn directed by Derick Martini (Lymelife) concerning a thirteen year old girl who legs it away from small town Nebraska to be faced with an American dream full of abuse, rape, big guns, drugs and a whole lot of violence. Joining Baldwin will be long-haired Teen heartthrob Rory Culkin, and Chloe Moretz has already been perfectly cast as the heroine, wonderfully entitled Luli McMullen. Hick also has roles for leggy Blake Lively and Indie starlet Juliette Lewis.
Hick debuts at Cannes and is due for release in 2012.
