Evan Peters to play Quicksilver in Days of Future Past

Evan Peters, probably most famous for American Horror Story and Kick-Ass (he was one of Kick-Ass‘ douchebag friends that did nothing), will be playing the role of Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past. This is news that baffles just about everyone, as Quicksilver was announced to be one of Joss Whedon‘s additions to The Avengers 2 – but there’s nothing in the law preventing his appearance in X-Men. What a nightmare.

Since the X-Men property is owned by Fox, rather than Marvel Studios, we’ll be getting 2 completely different Quicksilvers within a year. Bizarre

Evan Peters’ Quicksilver probably won’t have a massive role in the monster-sized cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past, but more interesting is the relationship Marvel has with its properties. Evan Peters’ Quicksilver will have precisely ZERO to do with The Avengers‘ Quicksilver. Don’t expect the words “mutant” or “X-Men” to appear in The Avengers 2, or the same actor, or even the same interpretation of the character. It’s all a little unwieldy.

It’s rather naughty of Fox to have added a character they know will appear in The Avengers 2. Poor Marvel are now reaping the rewards of years of selling off their properties to the highest bidder. Hopefully Evan Peters won’t be an abused pawn in the intellectual property battle between Fox and Marvel, and will actually get a decent role to play in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Who do you think should play Quicksilver in The Avengers 2? Should Fox play nice and just not use him?
