Gainsbourg and Von Trier to reunite for The Nymphomaniac

Fresh from the success of his shiny new European Film Award (and still officially never talking again), Lars Von Trier is reportedly teaming up with Charlotte Gainsbourg for their third consecutive film together. And as if Antichrist and Melancholia weren’t enough, this one’s called The Nymphomaniac. What about The Lovely Horse or Cakes and Cuddles, Lars?
The Nymphomaniac will apparently be an explicit exploration of a woman’s sex life and will be released in both hardcore and softcore versions. Stellan SkarsgÃ¥rd (Melancholia) and Willem Dafoe (Antichrist) have both been approached, but there’s no news yet on whether either of them are officially involved. Hardcore sex scenes might be a bit much to expect from high-profile actors, although body doubles were used for the explicit intercourse scenes in Antichrist. Oh Jesus, did I just type ‘intercourse’? I must have grown up.
