Jason Reitman’s Young Adult set for December 2011 release

Director Jason Reitman and scriptwriting enchantress Diablo Cody’s comedy drama Young Adult finally has a release date. The flick will be officially released on December 16th 2011, following a release to limited theatres on December 9th 2011.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with this dramedy, Young Adult stars Charlize Theron, Patrick Wilson, J.K. Simmons, Patton Oswalt, and Elizabeth Reaser in a story about a female fiction writer (Theron) who gets a divorce, moves back to her sparsely populated hometown in Minnesota, and decides to pursue an ex-lover (Wilson) who is now married with children.

Given its December 16th release, Young Adult will be going up against stiff box office competition in the form of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Meryl Streep’s The Iron Lady and Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked (that one may pose a lesser threat).
