Joseph Gordon-Levitt addresses Ant-Man rumours

Poor old JGL – all he does these days is dispel rumours. It’s a while since the Dark Knight Rises star was forced to deny the Internet’s conviction that he was due to headline the latest Batman reboot (although look how that turned out), and now he’s back in the spotlight with some more depressing superhero news. This time, Gordon-Levitt is pouring an entire kettle of boiling water into the thriving ants’ nest of rumours that he’ll be playing Marvel’s Ant-Man in the new Edgar Wright film.

JGL’s comment on the matter, delivered to (of all people) HuffPo France, is markedly circumspect and fails to acknowledge the other part of the rumour – that Paul Rudd will be costarring with him. Here it is:

“There is always a lot of rumours around these projects and so far it is still only discussions. I am always very transparent when it comes to my role and my career. I’m usually the first to speak and communicate with my fans if something happens. If you hear nothing from me, they are just rumours.”

Ant-Man is due to kick off Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, after Phase 2 wraps up with next year’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron. We’re pretty confident it’s going to be great, whoever’s playing the incredible shrinking Dr Pym – find out if we’re right on July 31st 2015…
