New Scorsese on the way!

Martin Scorsese has several new works in the pipeline, including a biopic about Frank Sinatra (no word yet on who’ll be playing Ol’ Blue Eyes). But perhaps the most exciting is the upcoming Silence, if only because it’s going to feature the twin powerhouse acting talents of Daniel ‘I Drink Your Milkshake’ Day-Lewis, and Benicio ‘actor of his generation’ Del Toro. The story revolves around two Jesuit priests who travel to 17th Century Japan to search for their mentor and spread the good word, only to come under fire from unbelievers.

It’s also to feature Gael Garcia Bernal, which should come as a relief to anyone who liked The Motorcycle Diaries but made the mistake of sitting through A Little Bit of Heaven, which featured Whoopi Goldberg as God and Jessica Hudson as a blonde American woman. Anyway, it’s always nice to hear that Marty’s back behind the camera; and it seems as if, for the time being, he’s without Leo. Unless, that is, Leo’s up for playing Sinatra; it doesn’t sound like an ideal fit for him, but then neither did Howard Hughes…
