Nolan begins casting his net for Dark Knight Rises

Now that Inception has finally sauntered past, shaking its bottom suggestively and diverting our leering gaze, we can all turn our attention back to Christopher Nolan’s next effort, which apparently features Batman. The Brit director likes to keep things under wraps for as long as possible (something he managed admirably with Inception) but the Bat franchise is another matter entirely.

Sources have confirmed that a slew of big-name actresses are due to audition for a part in the blockbuster over the next couple of weeks, with Keira Knightley, Jessica Biel, and Anne Hathaway poised to get all sweaty and nervous under Nolan’s stony-eyed scrutiny.

But for what role? The film is set to include a female villain and love interest, but if reports suggesting that Talia al Ghul (daughter of Ra’s al Ghul, played by Liam Neeson in Batman Begins) will make an appearance are correct it would mean a big black tick next to both of those boxes because in the comics she is both Batman’s lover and his sworn enemy. And people say comic books aren’t realistic…
