Journalists charged £2,000 to interview Brad Pitt at Cannes
6 hours ago (Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012 at 11:16 pm)
Brad Pitt is used to the call of the bright lights and flashbulbs but now a film company has put a price on buying a slice of the film star’s time – at £2,000 for a 20-minute chat.

Journalists at the Cannes film festival are being asked to pay on a ‘menu’ of prices for access for biggest stars.
And they can’t even demand that Brad, 48, fill their allotted time by, say, frolicking topless with kittens while serenading them. In fact, they’re just trying to get interviews about his new film, Killing Them Softly.
The price works out at more than £12million a year – £2million more than the fee Pitt allegedly received for his role in Inglourious Basterds.
Canadian film distribution company Alliance is also asking for the same sum to chat to Kristen Stewart, 22, about her film On The Road.
And it’s £1,200 for 20 minutes with Sopranos star James Gandolfini, 50, Matthew McConaughey, 42, or 44-year-old Nicole Kidman.

Publicist Max Clifford last night told Metro that charging journalists for access was a ‘ridiculously bad’ idea.
He said: ‘Certainly, it’s not the way to win friends and influence people.
‘When any major star appears in a major movie, part of the deal is to spend some time promoting it.’
If the fee was to pay for the stars to fly to Cannes, the press should have been done in LA, Mr Clifford added.
It is thought to be the first time that reporters have been charged for access to stars who rely on promotion to boost box-office demand. Film website Deadline claimed that Alliance was up for sale and under pressure to keep down overheads.
Alliance spokeswoman Anne Tremblay said: ‘The fee is simply a means for the expenses to be shared.
‘These stars travel by private jet, with their agents, make-up artists and hairdressers; someone’s got to pay.’
Skyfall teaser trailer released online ahead of Cannes Film Festival screening
2 days ago (Monday, May 21st, 2012 at 11:29 am)
The first teaser trailer for the new James Bond movie Skyfall has been released online ahead of its scheduled screening at the Cannes Film Festival tonight.

The one-and-a-half minute clip, which was first screened on BBC One’s Breakfast show this morning, offers glimpses of Daniel Craig as Bond as well as co-stars Javier Bardem and Naomie Harris.
And although little is given away about the storyline, there are hints of the stunning visuals and action sequences – one of which appears to involve a runaway Tube train – which fans can look forward to.
The film’s bad guy, played by Bardem, is seen in silhouette walking away from the scene of an explosion, while another sequence sees Craig lined up against a row of coffins draped in Union Jacks.

However, it looks as the usual Bond romance is also on the cards as he and Harris are briefly seen locking lips.
The trailer will be shown at the Cannes Film Festival as part of a special event to mark the 50th anniversary of the secret agent franchise.
Actress Berenice Marlohe, who appears in Skyfall, will introduce the new clip which will be followed by a special screening of From Russia With Love introduced by former Bond girl Martine Beswick.
Sky, directed by Sam Mendes, is due for cinema release on October 26.

Jude Law cowered as he was given a right earful by an angry Catherine Zeta Jones.

Luckily the British stars weren’t having a barney – but shooting scenes from their new film The Bitter Pill on the streets of New York.
The story, directed by Oscar-winner Steven Soderbergh, follows a woman (Rooney Mara) who turns to prescription drugs ahead of her hubby’s release from prison.

During filming last week The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star Rooney, was restrained by actors posing as New York police officers in the city’s Upper East Side.
The 27-year-old actress was taken away before escaping to a waiting taxi.

Law plays her shrink and Zeta Jones takes on the role of Dr Erica Siebert
21 Jump Street actor Channing Tatum plays Rooney’s ex-con hubby in the film - which was originally titled The Side Effects.
The Bitter Pill hits cinemas in March next year.
Kristen Stewart wants to bring back girl power with Snow White film
2 days ago (Sunday, May 20th, 2012 at 7:51 pm)
She may sometimes look fragile but Kristen Stewart does not break easily.

The 22-year-old is determined to bring back ‘girl power’ on film but wants to prove that women can ‘kick ass’ and keep their femininity intact.
‘I hate girl power movies when the people who are in it are not girls,’ she said during a visit to London to promote new film Snow White And The Huntsman.
She claimed the lure of the pain game was what attracted her to star in the action fantasy with 36-year-old Charlize Theron.
Forever attached to her vampish role as Bella Swan in the Twilight flicks, she knew it was time for a change. ‘I always wanted to find something that I could really challenge myself physically. I really like that,’ she said.
‘What I really loved about this was you’ve got someone who has the gusto, you can totally sit as an audience member and take all the satisfaction watching her kick ass.
‘But she’s not doomed. She remains so sort of steady and it’s not about in our field to be physically strong, you have to outsmart someone.
‘You have to be quicker. You just have to be strong.’
The role did have its drawbacks though and she admits she struggled to get to grips with horse riding.
‘Dynamic between horse and rider is so not for me,’ she added.
Next time around she’ll be a spectator and leave someone else to hop into the saddle.
‘I want to watch him run around the pasture, I’ll run with him,’ she said.
‘But it’s cool to act genuinely uncomfortable on screen.’
Cheryl Cole dazzles at Cannes Film Festival in white and red dress
3 days ago (Sunday, May 20th, 2012 at 12:40 pm)
Cheryl Cole has wowed crowds at Cannes with a stunning white and red feathered dress as she attended the premiere of Michael Haneke’s new film Amour (Love).

The Call My Name singer, at the French film festival as a beauty ambassador for L’Oreal Paris, wore the Stephane Rolland Haute Couture fishtail gown with a matching red bag and her brunette hair down.
Beyonce wore a similar black and purple version of the dress to the Met Ball Gala in New York earlier this month.
Cheryl’s feet were lost in the red feathered train of the otherwise white gown, which exuded Cannes glamour.
Not even a thunderstorm in the balmy French resort could dampen the attention of the throng of photographers on the red carpet at the 65th annual Cannes Film Festival at Palais des Festivals.

The 28-year-old was attending the premiere of Michael Haneke’s Amour, or Love in English.
She tweeted to her fans: ‘About to walk the red carpet for @LOrealParisUK. It’s raining lol. #Cannes2012′
The Austrian director won the festival’s Palme d’Or for First World War drama The White Ribbon in 2009 and is among the favourites to claim the top prize again for his tale of octogenarian love torn apart by a stroke.
Cheryl recently made her film debut in a cameo as a talent show judge in What to Expect When You’re Expecting, while next weekend she will appear on BBC1′s X Factor rival The Voice.

Jessica Alba and Mickey Rourke to star in Sin City: A Dame To Kill For
4 days ago (Friday, May 18th, 2012 at 6:08 pm)
Jessica Alba and Mickey Rourke have confirmed they will be part of the cast for Sin City: A Dame To Kill For.
Directors Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez announced last month they had begun work on a sequel to Sin City, which grossed more than £100million at the box office in 2005.

Production company Dimension Films has now revealed the follow-up will be in 3D and that it will be released in the US on October 4th 2013.
Casting is underway for a number of new characters, but Alba has already agreed to return as Nancy Callahan and Rourke will reprise the role of Marv.
The original Sin City also featured Rosario Dawson, Bruce Willis, Josh Hartnett and Clive Owen, but it is not known how many of the stars will appear in the second instalment of the crime thriller.
Meanwhile, Rourke is in talks to appear in Marble City, which director Ryuhei Kitamura has described as ‘Kill Bill meets Drive’.
Producers are also confident of landing Nicolas Cage for the action movie.
