Writer for Martin Luther King Jr Biopic Confirmed!

Yesterday the States celebrated the national holiday of Martin Luther King Jr, and so it’s fitting that Dreamworks has chosen today to announce the writer for the official biopic of his life. The lucky fellow? Ronald Harwood, writer of The Diving Bell and The Butterfly, Australia, and The Pianist .

This should be no ordinary tribute flick, as Dreamworks has managed to secure approval and aid from the entire King estate. meaning that Harwood will have complete access to copyrighted material such as such as King’s books, speeches, and other works that shaped his turbulent and inspiring campaign for equal rights. Lets be honest, what kind of a King Jr epic would it be without the immortal words “I have a dream”? We reckon Harwood is a good man for the job – and it helps that he is 75, so actually lived through the rights campaign itself. With Spielberg producing, the only thing question left for now is who will be taking up the helm as director? Dreamworks are keeping schtum for now, but as soon as we know, you’ll know!

Who should direct the epic tale of this freedom-fighting legend? Let us know your thoughts below…
