X-Men: Days of Future Past adds Colossus

Bryan Singer has been tweeting exciting updates revealing who will be cast in the new addition to the X-Men franchise: X-Men: Days of Future Past. He recently tweeted a picture of a selection of Polaroids showing the actors who are definitely making a comeback! There are several familiar faces: original trilogy members Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, Ellen Page, and Hugh Jackman and First Class stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult will all reprise their roles. Sadly for us it has recently be announced that Alan Cumming will not be returning as Nightcrawler.

The latest character confirmed to be coming back is Peter Rasputin aka Colossus, played by Daniel Cudmore in X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand. The character has a role in the X-Men: Days of Future Past comic storyline so it is no surprise to fans that Singer has invited him back. In Singer’s Twitter image there are two other new addition to the cast: The Twilight Saga‘s Booboo Stewart, and Chinese actress Fan Bingbing. It has been rumored that Bingbing will be playing the mutant known as Blink, who is a favorite amongst X-Men fans. Like Nightcrawler, Blink is a teleporter, so even though Alan Cummings isn’t returning, we are happy that there will be another character who has the ability to do lots of zooming around. We really like it when Alan Cummings zooms around…

X-Men: Days of Future Past will combine the cast of the original X-Men trilogy with the cast of X-Men: First Class. The plot revolves around a mystery character who is sent back in time to stop an event that has a devastating effect on the mutant world. The film will be released on July 18th, 2014. We can’t wait!
