thought this review was actually pretty bang on the money. Absolutely loved the film, but didn’t really care about anyone except DiCaprio – the script served the story rather than the characters. It’s not really a critisicm, more a decision Nolan made that facilitated the film he wanted to make. It would have been a very different film if we’d gone into the lives of the team, and perhaps it would have muddied the tight plotting. Very interesting stuff, and a fantastic ending. I never really felt caught up with emotion, but I was caught up all the same! Great film, and a very fair review.

“While the film may lack heart”?!?
Great review up to the point where you felt that in order to be a critic you had to be critical. As you note, the film isn’t about being heartfelt but I did find it moving in some parts. For example, Cobb’s desire to see the faces of his children but despair in the fact that to attempt it would mean giving up his grasp on what is “real” or Cobb being haunted by his wife (Cotillard) – who I thought stood out particularly and it worthy of a mention.
This film was truly exceptional, so good that it makes you wish you hadn’t seen it just so that you could see it afresh all over again. I think that sometimes you have to just let yourself be bowled over by cinema and not try and find flaws where they don’t exist.
