Sigourney Weaver is back on our screens this week with Red Lights, her third dismal thriller in under a year. But there’s more than guns and Cillian Murphy to the Queen of Sci-Fi, the woman credited with finally bringing gender balance to the Force from Ghostbusters to Avatar. Oh, and did you know she’s part of a club that includes Jamie Foxx, Emma Thompson and Al Pacino? It’s Cheat Sheet o’clock!
As part of the Sci-Fi-London OktoberFest, The Royal Observatory in Greenwich put on a super special event investigation all things extra-terrestrial. There were masked mutants at every entrance, an alien adventure game and a tour of space from the amazing planetarium. Plus, a special screening of Gareth Edward’s low budget, sci-fi film Monsters finished off the universal evening. Nice.
So it turns out that, contrary to common belief, the world wasn’t entirely obliterated by alien attacks fourteen years ago. If the rumours emanating from Hollywood are believed to be true, it looks like Will Smith will be reprising the role of Captain Steven Hiller not once, but twice, as 20th Century Fox prepare to announce the sequels to 1996’s Independence Day.
