  • Top 10 Treasure Troves… And Their Films!

Have you guys been watching the news? It seems that shipwreck hunters have discovered the remains of the S.S. Gairsoppa off the coast of Ireland and it’s got about £150,000,000 of silver buried inside. Gulp. Now that’s treasure beyond even our wildest dreams, although these films certainly give Gairsoppa’s haul a run for its money! Time to check out the top 10 treasures ever found (in film)…

  • The Top 10 WTF Moments Of George Lucas’ Career

Ever since Star Wars fans staged a boycott against George Lucas’ latest milk-the-hell-outta-previous-success scheme (namely, his heavily adapted Blu Ray editions), we’ve been at breaking point with the bearded man. So, like your very own Ghost Of Film-Mistakes Past, I’ll be taking him backwards through time in the hopes that looking at his mistakes anew will make him a better person. Here are the Top 10 WTF Moments of George Lucas’ Career

  • Friday Face/Off: George Lucas

It’s nearly Bank Holiday weekend, and thunder is shaking the turrets of Best For Film Towers. Perfect. As you prepare for your thoroughly underwhelming trips to Margate, Skegness or possibly Croydon, spare a thought for the grammatical gladiators assigned to fight it out in the unseasonably empty arena of the Friday Face/Off! All together now: a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away…

  • Friday Face/Off: Harrison Ford

Is Harrison Ford a grumpy dull bore with a flabby face or an action supremo in need of some Oscars? It seems here at Best For Film we fall into two camps- those that love, those that hate. Read on for a fully fledged, sort of educated rant and let us know who you agree with.

  • Top 10 Film Outtakes, Bloopers and Mistakes

Hollywood is big business. They spend millions producing top notch blockbuster films, paying big Hollywood stars huge salaries to star in their movies and creating the most impressive CGI effects, all to get us through the door and part with our cash. However, despite all this, we here at Best for Film (just like a MasterCard advert) like nothing more than to pedantically pick out all their mistakes. Priceless! So here is our collection of the best and worst outtakes and bloopers and mistakes in movies.

  • National Treasure 3 Gets Writers

It’s been confirmed that the National Treasure franchise is to get a third installment. Legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer (Pirates of the Caribbean) has hired Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro, writers of the upcoming Prince of Persia movie, to pen the third film in the franchise.

  • Harry Brown

Back to the gritty, urban milieu of earlier films such as Get Carter, Michael Caine delivers an uncompromising and sympathetic performance in Harry Brown, a dark and violent revenge thriller. But where the performances stand out, some of the politics in the film fare less well. Read on to find out what we thought of Michael Caine blowing off more than just doors.

  • X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Damn you George Lucas! No, not for making the Star Wars prequels and casting a Canadian Redwood as the Dark Lord of the Sith. And not for flogging a dead, Indiana Jones shaped, horse in The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. No, we damn you because as the Godfather of the franchise you are directly culpable for Ratnerised X-Men: The Last Stand. It’s complete uselessness is the reason we’ve been treated to this Wolverine prequel (and, if rumours are to believed, a sequel to the prequel plus a Magneto movie as well). An entirely new franchise of an existing franchise – great, just what we’ve always wanted!
