    James Cameron has finally beaten his most worthy nemesis, his past self. Avatar, after weeks and weeks and endless bloomin weeks at the top of the UK and US box offices, has finally overtaken Titanic to become the highest grossing film ever, taking a staggering $1.85 billion worldwide.

    K. Selvaraghavan is Tamil cinema’s answer to James Cameron. His action-packed epic Aayirathil Oruvan (in English, ‘One Man in One Thousand’) generated a similar buzz to Avatar prior to release in its home country of India, and now after a record-breaking international rights deal, the film has landed in the UK. The over-the-top goings-on can be a bit exhausting, but visually, the film holds its own against any Hollywood adventure epic.

    Saw franchise distributors Lionsgate have hit the lead in the Terminator auction. Their whopping $15 million bid for the rights to the franchise has seen them designated the “stalking horse” bidder by the bankrupt Halcyon Group.
