Just when you thought the ship had finally sunk to the bottom of the sea bed, those pirates, who may or may not be in the Caribbean any more, swing back with another romping instalment of nautical based madness. Your timbers should indeed be shivering.
Certain of their pending success, Disney jumps the gun and preps Pirates 5 and 6.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has had its budget cut! Pirates 4 will be made for a completely pathetic $200 million, rather than the juicy $300 million the last film, At World’s End, had to play with. Disney’s new chairman Rich Ross “wants to be mean and lean and cost effective,” according to Pirates 4 producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Many scenes, including an action sequence set on a frozen river Thames, have been cut as a result. But Bruckheimer says of the removed scenes: “the audience will never miss them”.
Rob Marshall’s Nine is set in an ultra chic 1960s Rome. Daniel Day Lewis stars as Guido Contini, a troubled Italian film-maker who after a string of cinematic flops, has ten days to go before shooting his long awaited movie Italia. What’s troubling him? Women of course. Women in the form of Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman and Marion Cotillard to name but a few…
