Musical drama from writer of Rock Of Ages picks up a odd mix for its leads
With Jack Reacher hitting cinemas this Winter, it’s only right we honor the crazy stunt-monster himself. Say what you like about his personal life, but Tom Cruise is undeniably a fantastic screen presence. Whether you’re watching him mixing drinks (Cocktail) or drinking drinks (The Last Samurai) or demanding drinks (Tropic Thunder) or getting his eyeballs removed (Minority Report), there’s a jolly good reason for everyone to toast our favourite psychopath!
The latest Broadway show to hit the silver screen is an eclectic celebration of all things 80s, unless those things include drugs or AIDS or, you know, anything of genuine interest or significance bar Tom Cruise in leather chaps. Boasting a ruthlessly PG-ified script, a series of songs you’ll probably never have heard before and Bryan Cranston getting gently spanked, Rock of Ages is just silly enough to take the edge off how dull it is.
This Wednesday marks the release of Rock of Ages, a film in which raspy-voiced funny man Alec Baldwin shares what is being touted as a “sensual song and a kiss” with our very own Russell Brand. In honour of this erotic occasion, BFF is taking a look back at the life, loves and career of our favourite Baldwin brother (sorry Daniel, Billy and Stephen).
