Will Imogen’s paean in defence of The Muppet Christmas Carol thaw your heart, drape your soul with tinsel and generally baste all your tingly private areas in cranberry sauce, or are you determined to stay as dour as Scrooge and insist that, even at Christmas, is the best comedy ever? Bah! Humbug!

    We’ve gone far too long without anyone playing the music, and don’t even get us started on what’s happened to the lights. Thank goodness then that The Muppets are finally where they belong – back on the big screen and firmly in our hearts. The story might not be the most ambitious one around and the great Frank Oz’s absence can’t help but be felt, but when you’ve got Fozzie Bear in fart-shoes, Dave Grohl on the drums and our ol’ pal Kermit at the centre of it all, it’s difficult to imagine more wholesome family fare.

    Monday is no laughing matter. You know what is? Comedy. So though we can’t promise you’ll never have to sit through another Monday (a more ominous promise was never offered), we can at least swear that with this healthy grin-fest, there’s nothing Monday can do to thwart your good mood. TGIM!
