Drew Goddard is re-writing World War Z

Don’t get too excited now people. I know you are, you are all sitting at your desks at work looking at this sneakily whilst your boss’s back is turned and your brain is exploding in a synaptic orgasm of delight. “Drew Goddard? World War Z? OMG”! you are clearly all thinking…

Or not as the case may be. First I suppose we ought to let you know (in case you were a bit fuzzy on the details) that Drew Goddard was the man who directed latest horror fest The Cabin in the Woods. So far so good, (that film was pretty awesome, wasn’t it)? Sadly that is where the good stuff ends as World War Z is yet another zombie movie. Poor old zombies, isn’t it time for them to put their bloody feet up and catch some well earnt zzzs? The film is based on the book of the same name by Max Brooks, and probably would have come out a while back had there not been so many script problems along the way.

The film stars Brad Pitt as a UN employee who faces a desperate battle against time to prevent a zombie pandemic from sweeping across the globe. Yawn. The film will also star Matthew Fox, David Morse and James Badge Dale who all clearly didn’t get the “zombie films are over” memo.

Prometheus writer Damon Lindelof has written the script and came up with the ending but director Marc Forster was unhappy with it and asked Goddard to come in and sort it out. Marc Forster unhappy with an ending? This from the man who directed Quantum of Solace? Oh dear…

World War Z comes out next year so start getting your zombie walk perfected now.
