Joss Whedon gets all Shakespearean in June 2013

Joss Whedon, all-round superstar and King of the Nerds, is finally getting a theatrical release for his Much Ado About Nothing adaptation that he shot in 12 days in his house with a bunch of friends. At least, America is getting a theatrical release of June 2013, and we here in the damp and friendless isles must wait until someone at Bellwether Pictures deigns to let us know if we’re getting it too.

Considering that Joss Whedon’s pet project is only a bloody Shakespeare adaptation, it would be a crime for it not to be shown in cinemas over here, but we rather suspect our agitation is less on nationalistic pride for the Bard, and more utter obsession with anything Joss Whedon touches. We still haven’t forgotten Firefly.

Joss Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing stars many familiar talents from the Joss Whedon-Verse, including (hold on to your butts);

Nathan Fillion (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly)
Amy Acker (Angel, Dollhouse)
Ashley Johnson (Dollhouse, The Avengers)
Alexis Denisof (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Dollhouse, The Avengers)
Clark Gregg (The Avengers)
Sean Maher (Firefly)
Riki Lindhome (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
Fran Kranz (Dollhouse)
Tom Lenk (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel)

That enough to whet your appetite? We WILL be seeing this in cinemas, Joss Whedon, whether you like it or not, and NO POWER IN THE VERSE CAN STOP US! That… that’s a line from Firefly, if you didn’t know. We’re not crazy or anything.

Excited for Joss Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing? Would you go to the cinema for a film shot in 12 days in somebody’s basement?
