The Wolverine – Definitely not a sequel

Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of the clawed hero Wolverine was certainly a large part of why the X-men franchise garnered such high commercial success. And although stumbling slightly with the poor release of X-men Origins: Wolverine, the gritty yet layered Logan is set to return once more under the masterful eye of Darren Aronofsky.

Aronofsky, who’s been bandying around this idea for a while, wants this new film to be able to stand alone against the backdrop of the other movies, rather than setting it chronologically to its predecessor, and put forward a new chapter in the Wolverine story. Rumour is the plot will revolve loosely around Logan encountering ninja and samurai in Japan. Katanas and claws…Not bad. Unfortunately, for those die hard fans out there, it doesn’t appear that he wants to take it any further than that, declining the notion of a further reboot like Nolan did with Batman. But still, have hope because if Aronofsky’s success is anything to go by – The Wolverine will definitely be one for the books.
