Video: Edgar Wright – How to Do Visual Comedy
You can probably learn more in eight minutes from critic Tony Zhou than a year in film school. In this edition, Zhou looks at how American comedies are little more than filmed improv scenes. Edgar Wright, however, is a master of using the medium for comedy.
Wright is simply amazing. His type of comedy is so minimalistic, incredibly direct and spot on effective, that it almost seems effortless. Though we know better how much it takes to painstakingly draw everything out. But then again, for a man who sees the film in his head first, before making it… Wright needs to make more and more films to quench the thirst of us cinephiles who are, frankly, tired of watching bad comedies being made.
