Whether deliciously farcical or born of plain old screenwriting sloth, the deus ex machina tends to provoke fairly spectacular reactions – after all, there’s scarcely a single worthwhile moment in cinema which doesn’t derive from GREEK MEN FLYING THROUGH THE AIR ON CRANES. We’ve scraped together the best of the worst…
How often have you been left cringing by a truly toe-curlingly, brain-numbingly, mind-bendingly offensive accent? At least 10 times so say we. Whether you’re Scottish, Irish, Welsh or English, prepare for a nostalgia-fest of infuriating proportions.
Here at Best For Film, we want you to be prepared. Halloween comes but once a year, creeping up on you whilst you are distracted by the changing weather and the slow realisation that it’s not acceptable to wander around in your bikini because SUMMER IS OVER. And we would hate for you to miss out on super cool Halloween things due to a lack of preparation. So here it is, champs; a list of Halloween film events for you and me and all to share.
Director Ridley Scott and leading man Russell Crowe reunite for a thunderous new chapter in the legend of everyone’s favourite 12th century pick-pocketer. Shot with Scott’s typical bombast, this Robin Hood juxtaposes spectacular battle scenes with romantic interludes, political intrigue and melancholic flashbacks, all set to Marc Treitenfeld’s rumbustious score. It’s unabashedly macho and predictable with an inevitable battle cry for Crowe to rally the troops into action: Gladiarcher, if you will. No green tights in sight this time around, but it’s still good fun all the same.
The Ridley Scott Robin Hood movie is coming at us faster than a speeding arrow – it’s less than a month away, people! As if you weren’t excited enough, three new clips from the swashbuckling, Nottingham-based epic have been posted on this thing they call the internet!
