  • Unstoppable

‘This is a film about a runaway train.’ The previous sentence is true, but it completely fails to capture the essential magnificence of Unstoppable so we’re going to try another sentence. ‘This is a film directed by Tony ‘Top Gun’ Scott in which Malcolm X and James T Kirk have to drive a train 80mph – in reverse – in order to chase down a half-mile long locomotive missile before it mashes an entire city.’ Yeah, that’s more like it.

  • World Cinema: A Rant

Seasoned blogger and Best For Film freelancer Cal has a bone to pick with the sprawling industry which promotes and distributes film in the English-speaking world – namely, why is it so gosh-darned xenophobic? For too long has the huge variety of superb cinema produced in countries bereft of words like ‘bling’ and ‘slanket’ been lumped into one big unholy mélange of untrustworthy foreign muck under the euphemistic non-genre of ‘World Cinema’. Well, no longer! We’re standing up and saying NO to a system which thinks L’Illusionniste belongs alongside Emmanuelle.

  • Disney’s new project: Gargoyles!

As people whose childhoods were made up entirely of watching cartoons in darkened rooms, we’re always happy to know that our tender years was not utterly, utterly wasted. Disney has decided to adapt their glorious 90s cartoon series Gargolyes into a feature-film, and frankly, we’ve never felt more knowledgable (who’s life is pointless now, mum?)

  • Megan Fox Marries

According to US reports, Transformers mega-babe Megan Fox has secretly married her long term lover Austin Green in Hawaii. Awww… well we’re glad some good news has come Megan’s way after being tossed out of the new Transformers flick. Though by all accounts good luck to Austin, if Michael Bay is to believed she’s quite the handful!

  • Megan Fox drops out of Transformers 3

After mega-arguments with Michael Bay, super-babe Megan Fox has confirmed that she has quit the Transformers series. Apparently Paramount are seeing this as a good thing, as “giving Shia Labeouf a new love interest makes more sense for the story”. Yes. A logical and emotional mature storyline is, after all, the reason we all go and watch Transformers.

  • I Have The Power! He-Man Gets More Writers

The latest film outing of He-Man has been languishing in development hell for longer than it takes to trim Battle Cat’s fur, but could the addition of two new writers be the shot in the arm this project needs? The writers of the upcoming Predators movie, Alex Litvak and Mike Finch pitched an idea for the film to Sony and have been snapped up by the studio.

  • A Nightmare on Elm Street remake – new poster revealed

  • Emma Watson Worth Her Weight In Gold

…well, dollars at least. It has been announced today that the 19-year-old Harry Potter starlett has this year earned $19 million, making her the highest paid actress of 2009. She beat out the likes of Cameron Diaz and Angelina Jolie, as well as being the youngest person on Varietys best paid list at number 14.

  • Transformers 3D: Revenge Of James Cameron?

Oh dear. Another franchise bows its head in grudging respect to the new world run by James Cameron and his voodoo. After being adamant last year that the Transformers films wouldn’t go 3D, director Michael Bay has been under major pressure from Universal to change his mind following the never-ending success of Avatar. Another one bites the beautifully pixilated dust.
