It’s quite hard to know what to say about the Woody Allen fiasco, other than it’s disturbing on every level. Whether you start with much-beloved-director-allegedly-abused-his-children, or people-we-formerly-respected-leap-to-alleged-rapist’s-defence, that’s a hard one to parse, and brings up some things we’d usually rather not think about.

Disclaimer: I’m dipping my toes into Woody Allen. The problem with a director who makes a film a year, and has done for the past couple of decades it seems, is that for the uninitiated, tackling him can seem rather daunting. Where to start? The old stuff? His latest work? What are the hidden gems?…

Colours are just wonderful. Think about how many wonderful colours there are in this world, like magenta and brown. Also wonderful: films! Woody Allen’s latest film Blue Jasmine is out today, which has us very excited because it is a film with a colour in the title. So I made a little list of the films I might want to write about and noticed that there was more than one Woody Allen film in it. There were three by the time I clocked. That’s a pretty sure sign of some sort of bias I would say. So I picked the one I’ve watched most. It’s one of the loveliest films in the world, ever.
