Agneepath

Agneepath is apparently a Hindi re-make of a 90s Hindi film, also called Agneepath. Brilliant. According to what we can glean, the story is a revenge-thriller loosely based on Scarface, centring on one man (Hrithik Roshan) manipulating two murderous drug-barons in order to avenge the death of his father. To be honest, we’re just well up for a bit of Hrithik, and the trailer does well to make the Bollywood jaunts look totally, brilliantly mental.

Acts Of Godfrey

Acts Of Godfrey has the dubious accolade of being the world’s first Full Rhyming Dialogue Movie – yep, every character speaks in continuous verse. It’s set at a motivational speaking seminar where everyone arrives guarding secrets that will invariably spill over the hotel tableclothes, but it does at least promise Simon Callow doing his best Simon Callow voice throughout…

The Descendants

Surely you know enough about this one by now – it’s George Clooney, he lives in paradise, except it’s NOT paradise and so although all the t-shirts are cheerful the faces on top of them aren’t. It’s got Oscar nominations a-go-go and George on top form – it’ll be a nice change to see him in something that isn’t a Nespresso advert.

The Grey

Liam Neeson. Some wolves. Lots of snow, and even more trauma. No, it’s not going to win any awards, but who can pass up the chance of watching Liam’s noble, craggy face set against the grief-stricken, icy backdrop?

Intruders

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, director of the brilliant Intact and 28 Days Later returns to our screens with a supernatural thriller starring Clive Owen and that wee lass out of Never Let Me Go. It looks like sleek, spooky and well-made stuff, even if never quite hits the heights of his previous work…

Like Crazy

Ahhh, the sweet, hopeful arrogance of first love. Felicity Jones and Anton Yelchin prove their worth in this loosely written indie-drama – a fine antidote to sickly sweet Hollywood fare. It’s not exactly easy-going, but maybe that’s the point…

Mercenaries

Ever wanted to see Billy Zane (yep, Billy Zane) avenge the murder of the Serbian president? Of course you haven’t. But that didn’t stop anyone involved in Mercenaries now, did it?

A Monster In Paris

French studio Europa Films brings us a tale of mad scientists, cabaret singers, renegade monster hunters and a giant mutant flea who just wants to sing his heart out. A Monster In Paris looks far more interesting than your average kids fare; a Hunchback Of Notre Dame type story, but with a few more outlandish monkey butlers. Excellent.

Chronicle

You know the drill – unfeasibly attractive high school kids discover they have Powers Beyond Their Understanding, attempt to use said powers for good and invariably one of them becomes a little shit about it. Sure it might all look a little X-Men: First Class, but is that necessarily a bad thing?
