After apocalyptic nightmare flop Seeking a Friend for the End of the World we had hoped that no one wanted to go near this subject ever again. Alas it was not to be and now everyone is jumping on the meteor and riding it all the way down like Major Kong in Dr. Strangelove. Drew Barrymore has agreed to wrap her legs around the destruction rock by announcing that she will be directing The End which will be an upbeat, life confirming (groan) look at a spectrum of people as they face the end of days. The story will follow a radio DJ in London intent on broadcasting until the bitter end, a father trying to make it through Tokyo to reach his wife and baby and a teenage couple in the American Midwest being pulled in different directions by their families. It sound pretty pretentious but thank god it does not feature a vinyl loving twat and a tedious insurance salesman…

We can only pray that the radio DJ in London will be Terry Wogan. That would be awesome.
