APOLLO CINEMAS TO SHOW CARMEN IN 3D

18 February 2011: Apollo Cinemas is to continue its Global Season of Opera and Ballet with screenings of operatic film Carmen in 3D.

Filmed in 3D during two performances at the Royal Opera House, Carmen in 3D is a feature film depicting acclaimed composer George Bizet’s opera classic Carmen. Packed with timeless music and 3D visuals, Carmen in 3D is set to take the audience on a tale of love, jealousy and betrayal.

A co-production by RealD and London’s internationally renowned Royal Opera House, Carmen in 3D will mark the first time that an opera has been filmed and shown in theatres in state-of-the-art digital 3D.

Rob Arthur, Managing Director Apollo Cinemas, says: “Carmen has thrilled London audiences for decades so we’re really excited to be able to bring Carmen in 3D to local communities using state-of-the-art digital 3D. It cements our passion to host alternative content at our cinemas and make London’s operas more accessible to regional audiences.”
