Twitter has lit up this morning with the news that Tom Daley, that lovely diver boy who now seems to do more TV than swimming, has outed himself as bisexual in a pleasant and unassuming little YouTube video. So, obviously, we’re getting a blog out of it. YOU KNOW HOW WE DO.

Katniss Everdeen is back in cinemas today with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, in which she will once again rock out with a bow while namby pamby Josh Hutcherson makes croissants and cries for his mummy. But Katniss and Hawkeye and their arrow-slinging ilk are only the tip of the iceberg. Here we explore some forgotten heroes of the world of, errm, archering.

The UK has just been hit by the world’s least impressive storm, and it’s got us thinking about some tempests that actually delivered on their promises. And, obviously, they’re all in films – why is real life never as good?

My colours have been nailed to Disney’s mast for a long while. Sure, from the outside looking in they’re a massively corporate entity that’s prime focus at all times is on turning a profit. Sure, they’re founded by a fascist (who isn’t these days, am I right?!). Neither of these things negates the fact that they make brilliant films. But hey, come on guys, what’s the best Disney film? Aristocats maybe, who doesn’t love a singing jazz cat? Not this guy! Or wait, Beauty & The Beast is a classic, Stockholm syndrome ‘n that, plus you know the beast would be dynamite in bed – he’s literally a beast.

It’s lunchtime, and I’m eating a rather disappointing BLT with a lukewarm can of G&T on one of SouthWest Trains’ longer and more bumpy routes through deepest darkest Hampshire while the sun beams down outside. Frankly, this article title was designed to incite jealousy and – although Hollywood is overflowing with unforgettable onscreen dishes – many of the meals on this list are horrendous, if only to help my mental wellbeing. The One Direction film – otherwise known as One Direction: This Is Us – is officially out in cinemas! Directed by Morgan ‘Supersize Me’ Spurlock and charting the boys’ meteoric rise to fame from their humble beginnings as mere children, the film looks set to break box office records and the hearts of perma-sobbing tweens everywhere.

All good things must come to an end, and after three jam-packed days of exclusive video interviews we’re finally running out – well, YOU try fitting more than three short films plus interviews plus music and a quiz into four hours. Smart arse. In our final celluloid retrospective, we meet the stars of Anna vs. the Dead.

Fair warning: we really enjoy a good superhero film around these parts. Between the things-that-go-boom, intriguingly flawed morals and healthy bit of eye candy for the baser animals among us, the superhero movie has quickly become the Elton John of genres – even though your nan might not agree with his ‘lifestyle’, she’ll always shed a tear every time she hears Candle in the Wind. However, it is our belief that if the genre is to gain any real respect among the film community, it’s going to need to start some passion projects…

The first of our genially unhinged film clubs was a massive success, so we’re going to boast about it in the hope that you’ll come to the next one. Seem fair? We think so, and we know we must be right because WE DID AN AMAZING PARTY. So there.
