First trailer for the 2012 Oscars
Gosh, the Academy must be rather worried about viewing numbers this year, we’ve never known such a big marketing push for an awards ceremony. After gracing us with a (slightly baffling) poster last week, the team behind the 2012 Oscars have released a trailer introducing us to our host for the evening – Billy Crystal. It’s… it’s… well… Josh Duhamel does his best, bless him.
Hitting our screens on the 26th February, we’ve still got plenty of time to get excited about this year’s ceremony. Which is fortunate, considering the below clip doesn’t do a great deal to get our gizzards burning:
Has anyone ever been more pointless than Megan Fox? If you’re going to have her stand silently in the background of every shot, at least put her in a bikini so the poor girl can feel valued…
With rumblings that this year’s Oscars are going to be doled out to films that are slightly out of the mainstream (films such as The Artist, The Descendants and Moneyball are all being tipped for greatness), it does make sense that the Academy want to ensure viewing numbers don’t drop. But we’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again, it should have been the Muppets. You think Miss Piggy would have been content with drippily handing over a magic suitcase? Hell nah.
