There’s no such thing as a predictable superhero casting – all the best Avengers, X-Men and otherwise pumped-up persons are unlikely characters who stumble into their crime-fighting alter egos just as unexpectedly as do the actors cast to play them. With so many A-list actors now boasting a brush with superheroism on their CVs, we’ve come up with a few new suggestions…
CSI: Las Vegas returns for Season 10, and the seedy location allows for some casino-based antics, wanderings in the desert, and enough dead prostitutes to start a zombie army. The American crime drama contains some good special effects, but even Morpheus can’t rescue the series from tired storylines and a lack of character development.
First-time deviser-director Gareth Edwards has been much lauded for his debut feature, a sci-fi road movie set six years after Mexico is invaded by gigantic aliens. There’s no doubt that, given the fact that he made it for less than $500,000 and edited it in his bedroom, Monsters is technically impressive – it’s just hard to appreciate his jack-of-all-trades prowess when you’re dozing off.
