Christopher Nolan has once again defied the critics; according to an inside source, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character in The Dark Knight Rises will be neither Robin nor The Riddler. Gasp!

Instead, the Inception star will be playing mafioso Alberto Falcone, the son of Carmine Falcone from Batman Begins.

Depending on how closely Nolan follows the DC canon with Falcone Jr, this could be very interesting – The Long Halloween revealed Alberto to (probably) be the infamous Holiday Killer, a slightly stupid Gotham villain whose MO was committing murders themed around various public holidays. This seems a little too kitsch for the ultrarealistic Nolan era of Batman films, although we think Tim Burton would have had a lot of fun with Holiday. More on this as the Dark Knight Rises leak continues to dribble, we suppose.
