It’s the most wonderful time of the year! With Hanukkah just around the corner and Kwanzaa on the horizon, now’s the time to cram in as much time at the local ‘plex as possible with this week’s OWLs. There’s a menorah’s worth of good films out at the moment; we’re utterly spoiled for choice! Naturally, the Crimbo death march continues, with Rise of the Guardians here to distract the mewling tots. They’d probably prefer Christopher Walken.
Next week we’ll be officially into Advent OWLs and all our oranges will have to be studded with cloves and full of candles and stuff (seriously, what is up with Christingle?), so you’d better seize this final opportunity to enjoy a blog about the week’s releases which isn’t saturated with Christmas nonsense. OH WAIT NATIVITY 2 IS OUT ALREADY. Balls.

Fortunately, our squad of stalwart cinewarriors is on hand once more to shepherd you past the leering embrace of Adam Sandler’s henchmen and into safer, Affleckier waters. Just remember – if Kevin James had made Daredevil it probably would have been the highlight of his career.
A Simple Life is an affecting and finely wrought depiction of a very unremarkable sort of love, and we think it’s brilliant. You will too, which is convenient as we have three DVD copies to give away!
Star Wars fever has simmered down, and your normal OWL service resumes in a week filled with Masters and Sapphires, whales and chatlines, and of course Ben Affleck running around Iran pretending to be George Lucas.
