Captain America: The Winter Soldier gets new trailer
With just months to go until Marvel’s first film of 2014, a fresh trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier has lumbered onto YouTube – and with it, our first proper insight into the sequel’s plot.
Two years on from the events of Avengers Assemble, defrosted supersoldier Cap is still struggling to adapt to the modern world (probably doesn’t help that Scarlett Johansson is always hanging around and making wisecracks). But he faces perhaps the only challenge that could prompt him to show even a SPECK of emotion – we’re not asking for much, Chris Evans – when a cyborg ghost agent who’s plagued the US for seventy years turns out to be an old, old friend.
Here, have a watch:
D’you know what? We’re pretty much down with this. The high-majick nonsense of the Red Skull was never a good fit for Cap in our book, but The Winter Soldier‘s strictly sciency heroes and villains seem to be casting the sequel as more of an overpowered spy thriller, which is fine by us. Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier looks ever more exciting and anarchic, and whilst Captain America himself will never be actively interesting he doesn’t look actively boring. Also, Nick Fury with bruises? That’s something we’ve not seen before – if this newest slice of Marvel Phase Two lets us start to get under the skin of SHIELD’s mysterious director, it’ll have justified itself from the off.
fantastic
Captain America and super heros are cool
