Evan Rachel Wood slams MPAA over sexist censorship
The brilliant Evan Rachel Wood has taken to Twitter to attack the MPAA, American cinema’s censorship body, for cutting a shot of cunnilingus from a sex scene in her new film Charlie Countryman.
Directed by first-timer Fredrick Bond, Charlie Countryman stars Wood and Shia LaBeouf, who needs to pack in a lot of sex scenes at the moment to get himself match fit for Nymphomaniac. We’re so impressed by her articulate, furious rant that we’re not going to paraphrase – here’s the whole thing for your delectation:
After seeing the new cut of #CharlieCountryman I would like 2 share my disappointment with the MPAA, who thought it was necessary to…

…well, yeah. Absolutely. It’s hard to find evidence of scenes that were cut before making it into cinemas, but we’re going to do some digging and see if we can find out a bit more about how often this happens. Our guess is not a lot – more experienced directors than Bond presumably know not to bother filming evenly balanced sex scenes. Blowjobs forever, eh, Hollywood? You make us sick.
