Pirates 4 pillages the international box office
Looks like the public refuse to listen to the critics. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides opened this weekend with a record setting $256.3million being taken at box offices worldwide. This beats the former record holder, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, by $20.3 million.
The Disney execs are not pleased with their takings on home turf though; the US and Canada forked out a disappointing $90.1 million. A far cry from the $100 million they were hoping for (awww; poor Disney). Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides cost a massive $250 million to make plus a $170 million marketing campaign. We here at BFF are wondering how much of that $250 million was spent on Johnny Depp’s hair-do?
