Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is pretty much set to be typecast in any movie; thanks to his menacing face, super-toned build and the fact that he is just muscle on top of muscle, it makes complete sense that he’s been approached to play Goliath in an upcoming movie of the Biblical tale.

For those not up to date with the Good Book, the tale of David and Goliath is pretty easy to follow. There’s an outsized Philistine warrior terrorising the Israelites (cue Dwayne, looking angry probably) and demanding them to send out a man to go against him in a fight to the death. You first, eh? Obviously nobody wants to get involved, until a young man named David picks up a slingshot and heads out to meet the monster…

So what about David? Apparently producers are hot on the tail of Taylor Lautner. Yup, the guy from Twilight… who spends most of his time with his shirt off and flexing those insanely honed abs. Surely someone as well-built as Lautner would be too, I dunno, well-matched for Goliath? We want our David looking utterly weedy and unlikely. Michael Cera, anyone?

Then again, Lautner does seem, despite the horrible Meyer-inflicted circumstances in which we’ve viewed him, quite a solid performer. I’d even go so far as to say a promising actor. We’ll have to bite our tongues and wait this one out for now…
