First trailer for War Horse now online
Having stormed The West End and Broadway, it was only ever a matter of time before the book-turned-play was nabbed for the big screen. With Spielberg at the helm, John Williams all over the noise and the best of British acting all up in our faces, Michael Morpurgo’s War Horse was always going to be hotly anticipated; so here’s a trailer for your eyes.
Set in WW1 England, War Horse follows a young lad named Albert, who befriends and trains a horse he calls Joey. The two have a special, Steven-Spielberg-directed-this kind of bond, but with war looming the two must be parted and Joey must aid soldiers serving their country. Blink and you’ll miss snippets of the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, Eddie Marsan, Emily Watson, take a look:
The trailer has an oddly old fashioned feel about it (yes, we’re aware it’s set in the 1940s, smartarses); the rising John Williams strings, the triumphant fonts, the slow, sweeping camera pans – does anyone else feel like this looks like a weepy war flick made in the 90s? Or does it just feel that way because Spielberg directed literally every film released in the 90s?
