Currently being touted as a new adaptation of the 1938 Graham Greene novel rather than a remake of 1947 film, the new Brighton Rock film opens in cinemas in February. Helpfully though, the first trailer for it is now online, yippee!

Updating the classic tale of bad-boy Pinkie Brown, director Rowan Joffe sets his Brighton Rock in the swinging sixties among the mods and the rockers. This trailer seems to focus heavily on the good-love-gone-bad between Pinkie (Sam Riley) and simple girl Rose (Andrea Riseborough), with seriously impressive support along the lines of Helen Mirren, John Hurt and Andy Serkis. So, the question is, Can Riley live up to Richard Attenborough’s iconic 1947 performance? Judge for yourselves…
