Cinderella remake on the way
Crimety, even the all-powerful Disney are now fully on the re-make bandwagon, it seems. After the ridiculous (and in our opinion, completely undeserved) success of Alice In Wonderland, the Mouse House have upped their re-make capacity, promising to deliver Malificent (the untold story of Sleeping Beauty) and now a live-action version of Cinderella. Is a remake we need? Of course not. But when has that ever stopped Hollywood before?
Though its too early yet to know any specific details about the plot or angle, we can tell you that the script is being penned by Aline Brosh McKenna, who brought us The Devil Wears Prada and 27 Dresses. Presumably this means that whatever else, the film will be filled with gorgeous garments and lovely ladies. Not known for making kids films, could this mean a Cinderella with a nod towards an older audience? We’re not really sure what to think. But if Alice is anything to go by, we’re not too hopeful. Can’t Disney concentrate on making more “new classics” a la Princess and the Frog? The original Cinderella is an absolute joy, and all we’re saying is that they’re awfully big glass slippers to fill…
