Emma Watson denies Fifty Shades of Grey role

Emma Watson has said that she will not be starring in the film Fifty Shades of Grey as Anastasia Steele, stating that she would, like, never do such a thing. Like ever. On her Twitter account, the star of The Perks of Being a Wallflower wrote: “Who here actually thinks I would do 50 Shades of Grey as a movie? For real. In real life. Good. Well that’s sorted then.”

While this is most likely her way of saying ‘no way in hell’, you could just as easily answer yes to all of the questions she tweeted; which would make her tweet a confirmation instead of a denial. Anyway, Watson bowing out means that the role of Anastasia Steele leaves a casting gap for some other young actress to fill. However, it was also revealed recently that casting for the hotly anticipated film hasn’t even started yet.

Fifty Shades of Grey is the planned big screen version of the novel of the same name by E.L. James. In it, a young intern called Anastasia Steele and her boss Christian Grey get up to all sorts of BDSM activities outside of working hours. The novel hit the headlines when it was released due to its racy sex scenes and the fact it was a piece of glorified fan fiction based on Twilight saga lovers Edward and Bella.
