First teaser trailer for The Skin I Live In

Based on the novel Tarantula, The Skin I Live In by Thierry Jonquet , Pedro Almodovar’s new film seems to be a world away from his previous projects. The first teaser trailer gives us just a tiny glimpse at his latest project, but you can call our appetites well and truly whet.

Describing the film as “a horror story without screams or frights”, it looks like Almodovar is delivering us an understated but bloody chilling take on the traditional scare-flick. The Skin I Live In centres around a plastic surgeon (Antonio Banderas) who is determined to punish the man who raped his daughter. In the trailer however, the focus is on the surgeon and his wife (Elena Anaya): a woman he’s decided to give a new skin to in order to save her life (we’re not sure either, but let’s just go with it for now). Take a look:

What do you make of it? Are you as intrigued as we are? National release isn’t until this autumn, so there’s plenty of time to learn more…
