After seven years of marriage, actress Kate Winslet and director Sam Mendes have announced that their marriage is over. Sad times for all of us who wanted to believe in the celeb relationship, great news for all of us bitter about other people being married to Kate Winslet.

This one is actually pretty sad, as Mendes and Winslet have shown the world that you can be a sleb couple and stay normal. Their wedding wasn’t reported in Heat magazine, they lived private lives away from the press and even divorced in secret. The statement they released today echoed this –

“”Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year. The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children.”

Sigh. Another one bites the dust. So will Brad and Angelina go down the same route? Are any celebs safe? Only time will tell…
