More Dark Knight Rises casting revealed

Christopher Nolan seems to be stepping up the utterly irritating drip-feed of news about hotly anticipated Batman threequel The Dark Knight Rises; he’s flung us two tasty titbits in one go! Unfortunately, they consist of casting news about characters which sound hopelessly dull, although ‘architecture student in Paris’ sounded dull and Ellen Page didn’t do too badly out of that…

Here’s the cheese: Inception veterans Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard, both of whom have been de facto but unconfirmed cast members for some time, have had their roles revealed. Gordon-Levitt, who was rumoured to be playing Alberto Falcone, has been outed as John Blake, “a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon”, whilst Cotillard will be playing Miranda Tate, “a Wayne Industries board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father’s philanthropic endeavors for Gotham”. Anything could happen, but we suspect Joe’s a bit miffed that he got ‘non-specific copper who will probably turn out to be a bastard of some sort’ whilst his old co-star Tom Hardy drew Bane.
