New Black Swan posters now online

…And boy are they purty. Created by the British design studio LaBoca and influenced by Polish and Czech posters of the 60s and 70s, the newly stylised Black Swan advertising will certainly be brightening up the local bus stops in the new year.

Scot Bendall, art director of Black Swan wanted to ensure that the film’s posters reflected the contrast of darkness and light central to Darren Aronofsky’s newst creation. He stated that the beautiful new posters “aim to convey the grace and fragility of the White Swan in contrast to the aggression and power of the Black Swan”. Interestingly, the team behind the posters were not allowed to see the film before starting their designs, with Bendall believing this would allow them much more freedom:

“The original brief was to make an attempt at interpreting the essence and feeling of the movie in illustration, with the aim of creating teaser posters that could ignite interest and excitement for the forthcoming release,” Bendall said. “Without seeing the film this potentially could’ve been quite difficult to achieve successfully, but also meant we were afforded a lot of creative freedom to explore and develop ideas.”

In BFF towers our current favourite is the first one (see below) but to be honest, it’s just lovely to see a different, refreshing take on the generic thriller poster. Aronofsky, you’re a clever little monkey. You can read our review of Black Swan here, but for now, feel free to just bask in the beauty below…
