Ah, Jim Carrey. It seems as if everyone who is anyone has an opinion on this funnyman of big budget flicks – whether you adore his early works and abhore Mr Popper’s Penguins, prefer him to stick to comedy and steer clear of serious dramas (hello Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind) or simply want to see him dress up in a funny costume, it’s hard not to have an opinion about good old Jim. So, with THAT in the forefront of our minds, Sarah and Nina have launched into an almighty row…
What with Oz The Great And Powerful and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone out in cinemas, it seems as if the world has gone a little mad for magicians, wizards and all those skilled in the art of prestidigitation. So, to celebrate in true Best For Film style, we’ve decided to pay tribute to the best of a magical bunch in a bid to find the ultimate magician of them all…
FRIDAY IS HERE. Fridays are magic. They bring in the weekend and make the five days before it disappear, and Friday night is when you can get up to your..
This is the final part of a trilogy of equally amazing films, but because it is the culmination of a series of dark and dangerous events is PRECISELY why it is so brilliant. When films have a satisfying payoff full of delicious goodness, a climax that rewards you for taking the time to watch it; it’s like eating your favourite dinner then sitting back and revelling in that ‘just full enough’ feeling. There are few films that do this better than Return of the King.
Look, we weren’t going to do this – offending the world’s 1.2bn Catholics would put quite a dent in our web traffic, and we suspect the Vatican is a dab hand at DDoS attacks when it feels the need. But after A WHOLE DAY of 115 cardinals failing to decide which of the essentially interchangeable old white men among them should be the next King of the Interchangeable Old White Men, BFF has no choice but to step in. Brace yourself, Jehovah.
It’s a good week for films and a very BAD one for our general health. With the majority of Best For Film either bedridden, suffering extreme hallucinations, warding off a temperature or dead, it’s a wonder we found enough strength to dish out our imperative opinions on this week’s cinematic offerings…
Jason Statham is quickly gaining a cult status amongst action aficionados. With his tough-guy looks and skilfully killer moves, there’s something here to please the gals as well as the guys. With his latest flick Parker hitting cinemas this week we thought it only right you be fully prepared for every ensuing eventuality and therefore humbly present this week’s cheat sheet.
The trailer for World War Z, due to be released in June, reveals an Aliens/Hardboiled twist on the classic zombie genre. Brad Pitt’s not just a lone hero fighting off swarms of the undead, he’s a family man, he’s got kids to feed and prevent being fed on. There’s sirens and explosions and screaming and running and zombies and all the while Brad’s doing his marital duties and taking care of the wife and kids. Touching, yes? We think so. So we thought we’d compile a list of the top ten touching zombie moments.
She holds the titles of singer, songwriter, actress, writer, film producer and director, and her appearance at last month’s Oscars demonstrated that the world still hasn’t fallen out of love with Barbra Streisand. With a career spanning almost 50 years, she’s now back on the big screen along side Seth Rogen in The Guilt Trip and in a commemoration that only BFF can pull off, we give you this Monday’s face/off.
It’s Friday! In honour of the brilliant Robot and Frank, released today, we will be taking a look into the not-so-distant-future (cos if we took a look into the really distant future, it wouldn’t be Friday any more) and getting off our little human faces with the help of some of our non-human friends. Get (Optimus) primed and ready and LET’S GET PISSED ROBO-STYLE!
