Zack Snyder has been confirmed to direct Warner Bros.’ upcoming Superman reboot, The Man of Steel. Can he bring the character to a new audience?

With Nolan meeting with directors for Warner Bros.’ upcoming Superman project, Man of Steel, the shortlist of his favoured possibilities has become public. And it sounds super!

Fans that have been salivating in anticipation over what Watchmen director Zack Snyder will do next should be prepared to salivate further, as 6 sexy character posters for Snyder’s up and coming Sucker Punch have been released.

The horror-savvy amongst you lot will be aware that we revealed the terrifying new poster for the horror remake last week. Now prepare to soil your pants all over again, as a teaser clip of the upcoming movie hits the web. The clip, which can be seen here, sees old Freddy K causing a bit of havoc in a supermarket. We can only assume he was frustrated in his quest to find hand cream.

Cover your eyes! The terrifying new poster for the A Nightmare on Elm Street remake proclaims that we’ll “never sleep again” and we here at Best for Film are genuinely quaking in our boots at the prospect. The slasher series, which spawned such classic cult movies as A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors and Freddy vs. Jason, is being revived yet again. Spooky.

Last week was a busy one for our favourite Mr. Darcy. Not only did Colin Firth announce his plan to return as Mark Darcy in another Birdget Jones movie, he also scooped a Best Actor nomination for this year’s Oscars for his work in A Single Man.

2009 certainly brought us a few cinematic corkers, from sci-fi epic Avatar to comic-book crunching goodness from Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight and Watchmen. But it wasn’t all wham, bam and explosions – will 2010 be a year of smarter movies? Judging this list… maybe.
