Hugh Jackman on-board for a Fantastic Voyage?

Looks like the chips are starting to fall into place for James Cameron’s long in-development 3D remake of the Fantastic Voyage. After hiring Shawn Levy (Date Night) in February word around the web is that Hugh Jackman, who worked with Levy on the upcoming Real Steel, is coming on-board as Levy’s first choice for the lead role. The world needs more of Hugh Jackman, all we need now is for this film to somehow wedge Eric Bana in…

If you’re not familiar with the story of the 1966 version IMDb has a synopsis. “A diplomat is nearly assassinated. In order to save him, a submarine is shrunken to microscopic size and injected into his blood stream with a small crew. Problems arise almost as soon as they enter the bloodstream.” This “re-imagining” is apparently taking the shape of a dramatic love story. With all that new-fangled 3D technology we’ll probably see this romance taking place with a heart beating in the background, poking us in the face.

With Jackman’s schedule free for the time being with The Wolverine now on the back-burner and rumours of his possible casting in Rupert Sanders Snow White and the Huntsman dissipating, it looks like Jackman will be part of a team infiltrating someone’s body in a miniature submarine. Won’t be as good as Innerspace mind you.
