Check out this test picture of Nic Cage as Superman from back in the day! He was a hero in the making if we’ve ever seen one. The abandoned 90s project Superman Lives was supposed to have been directed by Tim Burton, written by Kevin Smith and star Cage as Superman. After the film was no more people haven’t really speculated much about what the film could have been like. But Nic has speculated, and he’s super gutted that the film didn’t happen:

“I think I had the win-win situation, because that character is such a bulls eye that you have to hit. He’s one of the most precious icons of our country. Tim and I were pretty far down the road designing [Superman Lives], and I know that where Tim and where I was going to go, we would have done something really special.”

Aw Nic! We are also sad this didn’t work out. It would have been… interesting, to say the least.
