Skins the movie?
E4 producers have today confirmed that one of their most popular shows – Skins – will be turned into a big-screen motion picture. Inordinately attractive teens everywhere rejoice!
Skins follows the highs and lows of a bunch of sixth formers, in a way we can only describe as entirely the opposite of The Inbetweeners. These beautiful teens play hard, play harder and somehow also manage to fit in some time for that playing they’ve heard so much about. The program lauched the careers of actors such as Dev Patel (star of Slumdog Millionnaire) and Nicholas Holt (of A Single Man), and though every year the actors get younger, the key themes of sex, drugs, rock, roll and emotional breakdowns stay the same.
Steve Christian – Executive Producer – said the intention was to bring back characters from the first four series, but there would also be new characters. The script is being written by Jack Thorne, a regular Skins writer working with the show’s creator Bryan Elsley, and another regular, Charles Martin, will direct. So will it just be a 90 minute version of the existing show? The Skins team are adament that that won’t be the case. But we’ll have to wait and see. Meanwhile, back to The Inbetweeners. Those guys know what it’s really like…
